About us

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV) "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."

Who are we?

The Doves as we are known are youth members (aged 10 -18) of the Catholic Church in Swansea. The group is made up of about 25 Doves and several older Doves Leaders - but we are always happy to see new faces!

What do the Doves do?

The Doves meet regularly on Sunday nights between 7 and 9pm at various venues across Swansea and Port Talbot including the Hall in St David’s Priory Catholic Church, Swansea and Our Lady of the Assumption's Church Hall in Briton Ferry. The Doves raise money for charity. Our charity at the moment is the Christian Lewis Trust. Our previous charity was WaterAid. We attend special events (like the recent DovesProm), organise trips, tend to our section of the Parish Peace Garden, do informative community presentations, organise and put on fundraising events (like the WaterAid cake sale or the Pakistan Flood Quiz night).

When do the Doves meet?

The Doves meeting dates are publicised on our facebook group’s events pages (search “Doves Youth Group”) or here, on our website. Our meetings usually occur alternative Sundays 7-9pm. All diocese youth is welcome to attend.

What we support.

Fairtrade - we have an adopted fairtrade policy, endorsed by Fairtrade Wales and the All Wales Co-Op.

City of Sanctuary Swansea - we passed a resolution of support for the City of Sanctuary and support their aims.

Peace Mala - The youth group gained Peace Mala accreditation in March 2011.
